What support can the Center provide to a victim?
The Center provides information about appropriate methods and procedures to deal with an incident so as to help a victim, who may feel isolated, seek answers to her/his own questions. When the incident is reported and is in progress, the victim can be provided with information about medical and legal support as well.
Will my incident be kept confidential? I am afraid that I may get victimized for talking about my incident.
Every effort will be made to keep your personal information and conversation with us confidential. Rules concerning the Human Rights Center state that all materials that might reveal a victim’s identity shall not be disclosed without prior, informed consent of the victim or her/his representative.
How can I access to resources for prevention of sexual harassment?
Literature resources are available for reading at the Human Rights Center office. You also have an online access to brochures and booklets we have published at our website. Hard copies of our brochures are also available for collection at the lobby of our office on the third floor of Woojungwon (Building 153).
If result of an investigation concludes that wrongdoing has occurred, what actions can be taken against the wrongdoer?
First of all, the Center may require the wrongdoer to issue a formal apology to the victim and to receive relevant prevention education. Can I report a case even if only either a victim or a respondent is affiliated to SNU?
Article 3 (Scope of Application) of the Human Rights Center Regulation states that “this applies to every SNU member, and also applies where only either a victim or a respondent is a member.”
When a victim does not report the case, would there be anything that the Center can do?
In accordance with Article 13, Paragraph 2 of the SNU Human Rights Center Regulation, the Center might initiate an ex officio investigation even if a report was not filed, when there is a highly convincing evidence that a serious human rights abuse has been committed.
